How to review your chess students’ games
Add each student by their Chess.com or Lichess username and see their games, results and the mistakes that keep coming back in one place, with your own notes and remarks. Your students do not need a Blunderbase account.
How it works
Open Students and add a student by username. Blunderbase lists their last 30 completed Rapid and Blitz games. Pick the ones you want analyzed and the server’s Stockfish runs them, usually within ten minutes. When a student has played more, check for new games from their page.
The dashboard puts every student in one table: their rating, their record, how many games are analyzed, blunders a game and their main weakness. Each student’s page adds their rating in each time control, mistakes a game and how the last 5 analyzed games compare, the patterns that keep coming back, and a notepad for what you are working on together.
Your remarks on their games
Each analyzed game opens on the same review screen players use for their own games: every flagged move, the move Stockfish preferred, how much the mistake cost, and why. You can step through the line on the board and leave a remark on any move.
If you think the engine got a move wrong, say so in the remark: that it was not a mistake, that it was a mistake for another reason, or that the engine missed one. We read those to make the analysis better. Your notes and remarks are private to you.
What your students need
Nothing. No account, no invite and no password. Blunderbase reads completed games from Chess.com’s and Lichess’s public archives, the same ones anyone can open. Studying a student’s games never counts toward your own games, puzzles or stats.
What it is good at, and what it is not
Stockfish and fixed rules decide what counts as a mistake. On Pro, an AI coach can explain a flagged move in plain words, but it only explains: it never decides what was wrong.
It is strongest on tactical mistakes, like hanging pieces and missed threats. It does not diagnose positional plans yet, so that part of the lesson is still yours.
What it costs
Students is part of Pro, at $4.99 a month or $39 a year. Every new account starts with seven days of Pro, with no card, so you can try it on your students first.
